Founders’ Lecture 2013
Dr Emma Stokes
Emma qualified as a physiotherapist in 1990 and is a lecturer in physiotherapy and a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin. She teaches on the university's programmes in Dublin and Singapore.
Having represented the Irish Society for Chartered Physiotherapists internationally for over a decade, she was elected Vice-President of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy in 2011.
Her research interests include novel forms of exercise after stroke, as well as professional practice issues key to the profession both nationally and internationally such as patient self-referral, outcome evaluation, and advanced physiotherapy practice. Her teaching includes leadership, advocacy and professionalism in physiotherapy.
